As an ode to the impressionists, this mural exhibits many styles and techniques used by the impressionists as well as some ingenious ideas created by master muralist, Doug Jaques. Bejat apprenticed with Doug and learned many new techniques and mediums, including the use of interference and pearlescent paints which she now frequently uses for particular subject matter and to create certain effects.
"The use of impasto with pastry bags was brilliant and incredible fun and can only be fully appreciated in person. For the viewer is drawn to feel the depth and many Austinites can be found mesmerized contemplating the scene before their eyes. It's got the power of everything within it's boarders and carries you off to another world."
Bejat's work has been highly influenced by Doug Jaques and has studied under him for a number of years. She finds that every time she encounters his work she experiences something new and compelling that brings her back to her studio inspired.
