To What End?, 2003
South American Explorer's Club Mural
located on the interior of the clubhouse in the Mariscal Sucre District
Quito, Ecuador
Created with the concept of ever encroaching civilization within Yasuni’ National Park in the Ecuadorian Amazon, Bejat worked closely with volunteers and Ecuadorian students to complete the mural within two months. The walls composed of mud covered with stucco created a challenge in preservation in this beautiful historic home. The mural serves as a subtle reminder in a metropolitan city that nature exists and desperately needs attention. The Ecuadorian Amazon is quickly disappearing to civilization and this mural captures that brief moment it was there with all its incredible diversity. |
